The King of Pop was rushed to U.C.L.A. Medical Center due apparently to heart failure, and was reported to have been in a coma, as fans rushed to the hospital.
The King is Dead. Michael Jackson the self-proclaimed King of Pop died today at U.C.L.A. Medical Center, he was fifty (50) years old. Mr. Jackson was reportedly rushed from a mansion he was renting in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles at around 1:00 p.m.(pst) and was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m. (pst). As reported by Lt. Greg Strenke of the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery Homicide Division. As reported by KTTV-TV Fox 11 in Los Angeles on the day he died, Mr. Jackson's brother Jermaine Jackson made a statement that detailed how U.C.L.A. Medical Center doctors worked on Mr. Jackson for a hour after his arrival before attempts to revive him were discontinued. And he asked for privacy for the family. In another report by CNN on the day Mr. Jackson passed, and as being reported by the Huffington Post as well, Jackson spokesman and family attorney Brian Oxman stated in an interview with CNN reporter Kitty Pilgrim that he felt, "Michael's handlers were giving him too many prescription drugs. And I have been warning against this for sometime now. This case may make the Anna Nicole case look like nothing," Oxman said. Speculation is Already Beginning About How this Death Actually OccurredMany questions are yet to be answered regarding the death of Mr. Jackson. He was preparing to perform fifty (50) already sold out shows in London and according to the on-line magazine TMZ, people that were with Mr. Jackson were screaming, "you have to save him, you have to save him," according to the on-line report on the day of his death. Another report on the day of Jackson's death from KTTV-Fox 11 News reporters Lisa Brechenridge and Carlos Amezcua and stated that "the paramedics who transported Mr. Jackson said that some prescription bottles were found near where he was when they began to try to resuscitate him." Crowds Have Developed At U.C.L.A. Medical Center and at the Hollywood Walk of FameSpontaneous crowds have developed to mourn and remember the pop icon who basically changed the way generations of people both listen to and view music. Mr. Jackson rose to fame in the mid 1980's when MTV and music videos had really just hit their stride and began to capture the imagination of the young people of the world. At the apex of his career Jackson with the help of Quincey Jones released Thriller and to date this has been the highest selling album of all-time according to Billboard Magazine, with an estimated 109 million records sold, generating over $US 2 billion dollars. Over his career with both the Jackson 5 and as a solo artist Mr. Jackson had a tremendous amount of success. He was able to garner a total of four (4) number one hits with the Jackson 5 and a total of fourteen (14) as a solo artist, according to Billboard Magazine.
