Having trouble expressing your love? Try music! Here are some of the best romantic songs for times when words just aren't enough.

When you're having trouble expressing yourself, music is the best way to portray emotion without uttering a sound. "Mix tapes" were once the staple of high school puppy love. How did you show that crush how you felt? You made them a mix tape. The era of the mix tape has moved on to the digital age. Mixes are more likely to be emailed mp3's these days. Take heart. Mixes are still alive and well in this age of iTunes. These songs are the perfect way to say it without words.

God Only Knows by the Beach Boys: One of the most poignant songs the surfer boys from California ever released. It came out in 1966 on the celebrated album, Pet Sounds. It has been used in numerous films, most notably, in the tear-jerking airport scene from Love, Actually. Its commercial appeal doesn't take away from its sheer beauty.

Such Great Heights by the Postal Service: Anyone in need of poetry and simple elegant lyrics should look to the Postal Service. This song is off their album entitled "Give Up." It has been used in Grey's Anatomy and the film Garden State.

Porcelain by Better Than Ezra: This is the song requested the most at BTE shows according to the band. It is unfailingly romantic, but not the happiest song ever made. The 1995 album "Deluxe" is worth a listen.

Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper: from the 1984 album "She's So Unusual." That she was. This might have been an 80's ballad but it still stands strong today.

You're All I Need To Get By by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrel: Originally written by Ashford and Simpson, this one was the most successful duet ever recorded by Marvin Gaye. It has been referenced, sampled and covered numerous times in hip-hop, for good reason. The song is powerful beyond explanation.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones: What is a romantic song list without Miss Jones? She hasn't been around that long, but this daughter of Ravi Shankar belongs on any romantic mix. Her smoky voice and easygoing style are perfect for relaxation and getting in the mood.

Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers: Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield complimented each other's voices perfectly. Supposedly, they received their name when a member of the military shouted from the crowd, "That was righteous, brothers!" at one of their shows. This song was rocketed to fame when it appeared in the infamous "pottery scene" in the film Ghost.

Flames by VAST: You have not heard this song. Not many people have. It needs to be listened to. With a devastating cello, moody vocals and a heartbreaking melody, this tune is one of the most underrated and gorgeous ballads of the 1990's.
