Many stars who wouldn't speak about Michael Jackson towards the end of his life are suddenly singing his praises. However, some major stars are remaining silent.

When Michael Jackson passed away on June 25, 2009, Cher, Madonna, Quincy Jones, and several other famous people spoke out about Jackson’s death and how it deeply affected them despite the fact that these same celebrities wouldn’t be seen with Jackson when he was alive.

It’s natural that when someone dies, everybody suddenly wants a part of them again. However, because Michael Jackson was considered to be a pedophile by many (although he was never actually convicted for being one), certain celebrities – for various reasons – did not take part in all the media eulogies.

Bruce Springsteen liberal

Bruce Springsteen has been criticized a lot recently for showing off a “working class hero” image on stage, but then selling his greatest hits album at Wal-Mart, a place that is known not to treat working class heroes well.

It is possible that Bruce Springsteen is walking the walk and talking the talk this time. Liberals go very far to avoid associating themselves with anything that has a hint of child exploitation involved. Bruce Springsteen had several opportunities to honor Jackson in the past couple weeks, even playing the well-known Glastonbury festival in London. Some articles have even praised him for his silence.

Oprah Winfrey for Children

Everybody knows that Oprah Winfrey had a past that involved child abuse. She interviewed Michael Jackson back in 1993, but hasn’t spoken much of him since. Even though Al Sharpton and other African American leaders believe Michael Jackson was a racial healer in the league of Obama, other prominent African Americans think differently. It's hard to say exactly where Oprah stands.

Oprah Winfrey has continuously marketed herself as an activist for children. She has spoken out about the sexual abuse that has taken place at her schools in Africa. She even devoted a special episode of her syndicated talk show to a Senate bill targeting child predators. It’s quite likely that Oprah might have been considered a hypocrite had she sang Michael Jackson praises.

Prince Jehovah’s Witness

Why Prince is keeping quiet about Michael Jackson’s death is more of a mystery than Oprah or Bruce, but it’s quite possible that the fact Prince is a Jehovah’s witness is playing a major part. But beyond the weirdness, many say that Prince is a decent family man who loves children. Perhaps he believed that Michael Jackson's behavior with children was inappropriate.

There was also a lot of competition between the two superstars and they were often compared to each other. In 1984, Michael Jackson, arguably, had to give up his crown to Prince, when Prince released Purple Rain. It is often thought that there was some bad blood between the two.

Conclusion: Some Celebrities Silent about Michael Jackson

It would be interesting to see if any of these celebrities say something about Michael Jackson in the near future. As much as they are being criticized for not joining in the canonization of the recently deceased star, many are also giving them credit for standing true to their convictions.
