Five Interesting and Popular Singers that Youth Love
Music is very important to teenagers. According to the article Music’s Important Influences “Music is important to most teenagers. It is a way to get away from all of lives problems. Music gives teenagers a different way to think than the "normal" way to think.”
Every decade has seen its own share of great teen artist and teen idols. From Elvis Presley and the Beatles to Michael Jackson and Nirvana teen music has inspired and comforted teenagers in every decade.
When we look at some of the most popular performers that teens worship and idolize in today’s music we are introduced to some very interesting people.
Popular Teen Music Performer – Amy Lee
Amy Lee is the lead singer of the band Evanescence. Amy Lee is mostly viewed by her fans as being independent and sexy. As a child her family moved around a lot, but her love of music was always evident to her friends and family.
According to the official evanescence website “Fallen, their major-label debut, was released in April 2003 to critical and commercial success and has sold more than fifteen million copies. Their second major label debut, The Open Door, debuted at Number One on the Billboard charts and reached platinum status in just over a month.”
The band Evanescence hails from Little Rock Arkansas and magically blends goth, rock, and classical music together. This is partially because of Amy Lee’s background in classical piano and her interest in death metal music.
ChaCha in response to a July 3rd, 2009 question points out that “Evanescence has sold nearly 18 million albums worldwide to date.”
Popular Teen Music Performer – Adam Lambert
He is the 2009 American Idol Runner Up, but many of Adam Lamerbt's fans believe he was cheated out of the victory. Compared to the likes of Freddie Mercury, Adam Lambert has a phenomenal vocal range with a strong stage presence. There is little doubt that Adam Lambert is on the road to stardom.
Trained as a musical theater performer, Adam surprised people during his American Idol run by singing songs from Queen, Aerosmith, and other popular performers. He is one of the few performers to have earned a standing ovation from the shows creator.
Many have claimed that his openly gay lifestyle is to blame for his fall from the American Idol top, but not Adam Lambert. He makes no excuses and instead promises to deliver much to his fans in the years to come.
Popular Teen Music Performer #3 – Britney Spears
Despite all the negative press and scandals around her, Britney Spears still remains a popular artist among teenagers.
This Louisiana raised Britney Spears is fondly remembered from her Mickey Mouse Club Days.
Innocent and Sweet were images that were constantly associated with her. That is until she released Baby One More Time and Oops!... I Did It Again. Britney Spears time of innocence was clearly over.
She has won several awards and distinctions including:
- Ranked as the eighth best-selling female recording artist in the United States
- Seven #1 Worldwide Hit Singles
- Britney Spears is the most searched persons on the internet for 2009.
- Britney Spears is the youngest singer to receive a star on the Walk of Fame and one of the youngest people to receive a star.
- Eunice Oh from people.com indicates that she has won the most Teen Choice Awards ever including an Ultimate Teen Choice Award for ""extraordinary contributions to the entertainment industry,".
Though her popularity has slightly decreased in recent years due to personal life drama, she still seems very capable of making a comeback.
Popular Teen Music Performer – The Jonas Brothers
Kevin, Nick, and Joe Jonas are three brothers that are extremely popular among teens around the world. Roger Moore of the Orlando Sentinel in his article “They’re family – and family-friendly” writes that the Jonas Brothers focus on maintaining a family friendly image. Additionally, Newsweek and U.S. Magazine indicate that the Jonas Brothers also uphold strong Christian values including abstinence from sex, alcohol, drugs, and tobacco.
The purity ring that they wear on their left hand has become a popular Christian symbol that is worn by many Christian teens today. It serves as a promise to God that one will stay pure until marriage,
They were nominated for best new artist for the 51st Grammy awards.
Popular Teen Music Performer – Miley Cyrus/ Hannah Montana
Miley Ray Cyrus, whose birth name is Destiny Hope Cyrus, has a huge following right now and it’s not really expected to die down anytime soon. Most famous for bringing the character Hannah Montana to life this 5 foot 4 and a half inch performer has both talent and attitude.
The Internet Movie Database indicates that in 2008 she was ranked #1 in the TV Guide Top 10 Teen Star Countdown.
She has also just released a book entitled Miles to Go. Her official website states that the book is about "sharing her inspiring story, spanning from her Southern roots in Tennessee to the excitement of her record-setting triumphs in tv, music, and film."
Along with her friend Mandy Jiroux, they update consistently a YouTube channel called MileyMandy.
