What do you get when you ask music's biggest legends to pick a favorite song and a new artist to cover it? An amazing album.
Many music fans are torn between cover songs - if they do the original justice or not. And some music enjoyers wonder what the original artists would think of the new version. Well, the charity organization War Child has come up with an incredible album of cover songs. Music Legends Put Faith In Next Generation To Cover FavoritesThe incredible idea behind the album War Child Heroes is following: the organizers asked some of music history's biggest legends to select a track from their own catalogue and then nominate an artist from the next generation to create a modern re-working of that classic song. In essence, this was musical legends placing their faith in the next generation. David Bowie And Paul McCartney First To SupportTwo of the absolute giants of the music industry - Paul McCartney and David Bowie - were the first to throw their support behind the project. The former Beatle McCartney chose Welsh singer Duffy to cover "Live And Let Die". And Bowie selected the classic song "Heroes" and asked New York art-rock group TV On The Radio to come up with a cover version. U2, Dylan And Springsteen Trust Elbow, Beck And The Hold SteadyAmong the other superstar acts to take part in the idea were U2, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. U2 asked Elbow to cover "Running To Stand Still" while Dylan wanted to see what Beck could come up with for "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat" and Springsteen was anxious to see The Hold Steady cover "Atlantic City".
