Whitney Houston's Comeback CampaignSinger aims for Comeback with Impressive Marketing Campaign
Whitney Houston's beautiful voice, excellent choice of producers, and ability to market herself may restore her brand.
Whitney Houston’s comeback campaign seems quite contrived. It’s as if we are getting ready to watch the new Whitney Houston Comeback movie with people jumping, crying, and screaming, “Welcome back Whitney!” Let’s face it: America loves comebacks. Whitney Houston could deliver very poor music and still have critics on her side. Whitney Houston VoiceIt doesn’t sound like Whitney Houston is going to be releasing bad music. Music industry insiders say that the most important aspect of Whitney Houston’s comeback campaign is to remind people why they fell in love with Whitney Houston in the first place: her great voice. Some people consider Whitney Houston to be the best female singer of the past twenty-five years. Many other singers have praised Whitney Houston’s voice: Prince once compared Whitney’s voice to that of an angel; Madonna said that Whitney Houston has the most powerful voice of all time and Stevie Wonder once noted that Whitney Houston could take a horrible song and turn it into a treasure with her voice. However, there are many that are concerned that Whitney’s alleged drug use has destroyed her voice. Music mogul Clive Davis, however, has invested thousands of dollars into her comeback and Whitney has been retraining her voice for the past few years. While she might sound good on her album , the true test of her singing will be watching her perform live. Whitney Houston BalladsWhitney Houston is said to deliver many trademark ballads on her next album. Ms. Houston mastered the art of delivering a ballad when releasing her first single, “You Give Good Love,” in the summer of 1985. She followed that up with the number one single “Saving All My Love for You.” Other notable ballads include “Greatest Love of All,” “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” “Where Do Broken Hearts Go,” and the most successful selling ballad of all time, “I Will Always Love You.” Whitney Houston Dance MusicThere are also said to be many 80s and 90s sounding dance songs on Ms. Houston’s new album. Though Whitney broke through with soaring ballads, fans like her for her unique sounding dance records as well. Some of her biggest dance records include “How Will I Know,” “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” “I’m Every Woman,” “and “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay.” Madonna and Mariah Carey should be taking notes. People really don’t want to see women over forty get down and dirty with rappers and pretend they are twenty years old again. Mariah Carey thought she would interrupt the buzz surrounding Whitney Houston’s comeback by releasing her album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, the week before. Judging by Mariah’s horrid new single "Obsessed," which was just released, Whitney doesn’t have much to worry about
