Joe's cover of Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" at Yahoo! Music's Cover Art ™ is refreshing in several different ways:
1. Joe could have tried to take the easy way out and interpreted the song in a misogynistic way - but a classy R&B crooner would never do that. Instead, he takes the high road and turns the song into "Before I Cheat."
2. He's playing his own guitar. In this age of ProTools, that is always refreshing.
3. Joe's backed by a full band on the song, yet the sound manages to come across stripped down. Even though it's a Yahoo! Music video, it gives the feeling of catching Joe in a club.
4. The line about "Mariah karaoke" is absolutely the R&B equivalent of Carrie Underwood's "Shania karaoke" in the original. The sense of humor on that lyric is great.
5. How about Joe and Carrie Underwood duet the song at, say, an awards show or something? Now that would be interesting.
