» cargoby - "Alright" is FREE this week!

Ledisi's new single, "Alright," is the iTunes free download of the week right now. I am sure this lasts only a couple more days as iTunes refreshes the free song each Tuesday so get a move on and download it!

Oh, you're a nut like me and faithfully download the weekly single without fail (except when they put up a real turd for us)? Good. Let's discuss.

I interviewed Ledisi a week ago. The interview is soon to be transformed into an an article to be posted here, so stand by for the scoop. But as of right now I'm still working on it. So as I'm interviewing Ledisi, she asked me what I thought of the new song. I said I loved it, it's great. And even still I stand by my opinion.

Maybe I'm biased because she's an East Bay girl like me. Maybe I just love the return of GOOD MUSIC so much I can't help but give "Alright" a rave review. I dig the song. It is definitely laid back, classy jazz. It's so not the mainstream right now and probably never will be. I think the song is a victim of that, of people wanting it to fit into the mainstream round hole -- but the song is a trapeziod. I don't think the song showcases her voice accurately, but it's still a good song nonetheless. So I love it.

But some people don't. Check out all the nasty reviews from the haters on iTunes! (Go to the free download of the week page in the iTunes music store). How can people hate her new song so much?

But then again, taste is subjective and I'm the girl who hates Michael Buble with a passion...

So what do you think of the new Ledisi song?

Go get your free iTunes download of the song or buy the new album and discuss.
